Besides the covert stuff mentioned in the previous Chapter 5 thread, here are a few others. Outpost, are your eyes. Surround your territory with outpost. This accomplishes several things, first you can see the bad guys long before they can get to you, You can spy on their operations and you can scare many of them away. If you have established a reputation as a dangerous player then just the mear sight of your outpost can strike fear in lesser players and cause them to stay back from your area. Use your scouts like scouts. Make stacks of 1 each and place them every where. Move every scout every turn 1/2 of their remaining mp, refresh the map, look around and then move them back if you dont see anything important. Others will see you as just being stationary, they are not aware of your "patroling".
And if all else fails, ask you neighbors about their neighbors. I find in many games your neighbors want to avoid early battles and are willing to show acts of "good will". | | Genming Joined 4/22/2001 Posts : 885

I like to use it for defensive means and together with ballista, it makes an impressive ambush combo for unsuspected invading troops. Given the fact that ballista can hit 9 range (troops can only see 8 range away), together with the help of outpost, you can normally killed off enemy troops without them seeing where you are hitting from. | | CoD Joined 8/3/2002 Posts : 76
| Posted : Monday, September 16, 2002 - 03:43 It's true that outposts have bigger range but troops can move. I use 2-4 groups of 1 single scout to "scan" the terrain and nobody will kill them because they are no threat. ...only some angry private messages ))
In that way is easy to find inactive players in first turns and take their castles before others. I've played only in 1-29 level games and suppose in higher level games will not be so many inactive players but you can see how strong they are. Well, I still believe that outputs still have more of a vital usage than does single scouts, but they are SOOOO much more expensive....
Knowing a lot is good.....this thread kind of reminds me of the essay and presentation I'm suppose to be writing right now....about electronic battlefields and Geographic Information Systems..........oh wells......I don't think that such things are relavent to this game..... | | CTDXXX Joined 11/19/2001 Posts : 5842

And if ALL of the potential competitors are top 100...oh dear :-) | | Bones222 Joined 7/16/2003 Posts : 54
