When checking the military status of my army on the control panel I have several units that are lvl 2 or 3. When I am in map view and look at those same units, they are still level 1 even though it shows them having enough exp to have leveled up. Which is the accurate level?

I would take it as the level it shows when you click on that unit in the game window.

That's a good question, and if you look at the attack points for that unit it may help figure it out, since you get +1 attack per level. If it says level 1 on the map but the attack points are say, 13(+3) you'd know that you are getting three extra attack points from level, not techs. Please investigate and report back, soldier!

I am still not sure which case is true. I give you two samples from my army. First, my gritty arbelestiers. Military status on control panel shows them as 3rd level. They show this on the map:

Going by what Mog said, I would guess this unit as still first level (+15 attack/10 population). But isn't 477 exp enough to make them a higher level?

This really confuses me as Mog's formula would have these guys as 4th level, the map shows them as 2nd.

It is 500 XP for each level. Your arbs ony have 477, which is level 1. Your militia have 541, which is level 2.
